At Fixer on the Roof, we are one of the best roofing contractors in Toronto, our roofers have several decades of experience in working on Toronto roofs and have pretty well seen everything. As a homeowner in Toronto or a new home buyer here, one should be aware of the potential problem you may encounter.

Premature aging, roof repairs and roof replacements are often caused by structural design, climatic or location issues that are unique to Toronto. The mighty maple tree which is as common as parking tickets in Toronto, each winter we can expect at least one heavy snow ice build up on the rooftop, and every summer an intense heat wave brings with it at least one forceful thunder storm. All of which result in a wave of new emergency roof repairs.

Many of the local neighborhoods have their own unique challenges:

You may not know that Leaside got its name from the Lea family which owed a big chunk of the land there over a century ago, and it was basically a whistle stop on the railway line heading out of Toronto, thus the train station was called Leaside. The large track of land was actually one of the first planned communities in Canada. The town was developed in stages over several decades, which is why you see large neighborhoods of very similar designs.

The most common house was the modest Leaside bungalow. The pitch of the roof is quite gradual and the large lots allow for easy access for us when it comes to roof repair or replacement on these aging roofs. But these days most are being gutted adding a second floor or torn down entirely for a larger footprint, along with a much larger roof. We have worked on both around this wonderful neighborhood.
